Ok, Simple upgrade to my fret slot cutting jig
I made a simple upgrade to my slot cutting jig today and it sure helps. I clued some 1/4" hardboard to the bottom so I could clamp it down. Sure makes it a lot easier than trying to hold it while sawing. I think you can see it in the picture. Now I can adjust it for different widths of fret board, adjust to the depth I want to cut, adjust to the width of the saw blade and clamp it in place. Notice my other valuable tool: my head lamp. I use that thing a lot. My daughter give it to me for Christmas two years ago and I really use it. Coarse my wife doesn't like me walking around with my "geek light" on my head, but ahh, what does she know?

YA, fretting is not my favorite part of a build either. But, The neck/fret board are 70% of the work to build a CBG so if I didn't do it I wouldn't feel like I built the thing.

I have a "geek" light also! It clips to the brim of my ball cap. I also use it when I'm out "walking" at night in my wheelchair.
It's a great safety device and very handy for filing nuts... Does the wing nut in the (center bottom) put the squeeze on the fretboard?

I just snug it enough to hold the fret board while I saw the fret grooves. Doesn't take much.
