I put strings on it yesterday.
It's not as refined as it could be, but i'm happy with it's rough look. I didn't use any finish on it, because i liked the feel of the wood so much as as was working on it, that i wouldn't want to change it with something to glossy.
The box is rather small for it's scale (65cm), but it's all i had...
The box is mahogany, and i was lucky enough that my girlfriend's dad had a piece of mahogany among other pieces of wood, so i was able to use that to make the neck.
I added a simple set of piezos, but they have a nice metal cover, so i cut some slots in the top to resemble an electric guitar with two pickups.
One thing I learned from building it, is to NEVER be in a hurry to go on with the work. Twice i was hoping to get it done by night, and both times i ended up being overly nervous and messing things up.
Both times, when i went back to work on the guitar the day after, i got everything fixed and done, easy as pie...
I still might work on the action a bit, as it's a little to high for fingering, but it's ok for sliding (and i can't play slide, hahahahaha....).
Anyway, any advice, comments or criticism will be appreciated.

Looks nice, congrats on your first build.....let the obsession begin. : )
What kind of strings are those, they don't look like guitar stings?
THanks!
they are strings for classical guitar by Hannabach, specifically the 6th, 5th and 4th. maybe they look very shiny because they are new.
For now they are tuned to open E, I will be experimenting with different setups and sting combinations though.
looks pretty cool man .. i like the faux mag piezo pickups .
great firsty !!!! ;-)
Nice build. I know what you mean about being in a hurry. That's the time the best thing to do is back away and take a break. Don't worry about learning the slide, it's not that hard, just don't rush for perfection. Take your time and enjoy it.
I think it looks great, like all the wood being the same tones, pulls it all together, and the pickups look cool too.
A lot of things I like here, the faux mag pickups, the integrated bridge/tailpiece, and the distressed but uncluttered overall look. I might borrow that bridge/tailpiece idea for a future build if you don't mind.
i don't mind at all. I'm actually quite happy you like it
Good stuff here, nicely done- How well do the piezo's sound. I have been thinking of doing some faux pups.
Well, i tried them with a 10w amp, and to actually hear sound from it i needed to max the volume. Adding the overdrive button made it better, though not distorted. They sound pretty good, but i think they would be better tested on a more powerful audio set, as they are probably a bit weak.
I recorded some example of how it sounds, maybe it can be useful in your decision wether to use piezos like this or not.
Consider my 10w amp was at full volume, but the overdrive was off. I was also recording directly from the built in mic of my computer.
You can find the file on my music on my profile page. Sorry if it's repetitive.
