I've been building for about a year and half now. In that time I've built 3-three stings, 2- Four strings, 2-ukes and 2- Six strings. Not in that order.

Usually, just as i'm finishing a build I start thinking about the next instrument I'd like to try( Lapsteel or banjo). For the sake of my marrage I'm trying to slow my production down.

So, in 18 months I have 9 new instuments all of which I love but I still just want to make more.

So how many can you keep around before you become a hoarder?

You're asking this why? As if this some 'bad thing'?

I currently have seven, counting one that belongs to my son. They can be seen on my page.

Well, mostly I'm just curious. Right now everything I've built gets played but at some point I'm just going to be adding to the collection and the older ones are gonna end up in the closet as the new builds are always improvements over the last build.

Well, I am a cbg hoarder.  9 in the den, 3 hidden out of sight (just not pleasing me right now or maybe ever),  2 in the shop to dink actually play out there and 1 work in progress.    I have at least 7 that would be difficult for me to part with.  Some of the others may go..

umm...   geesh ..  i  may need  help  ..    ive  got 43  ,  and they are all over the house . some on the walls  ,, some leaning  against  tables etc   .   guess  i  should down size   lol

(44 as  of last night   )   i made     a dbl neck  diddly  out of my scrap pile   lol

44!   You the man.  I an NOT a hoarder.

I like to keep old crap, most of it wasn't crap when I got it. I still have a part from my '71 BSA Rocket 3, stuff from my last Harleys, an old Canon camera, my '56 F-100, a couple of handguns, wood carvings I always meant to sell and never did, and my wife of 40 years, but, she doesn't qualify as crap.

lol .. i   have   6  guitars leaning  against  a 53  bsa D12   right behind  me .

The one I have in the bathroom for playing, instead of the typical reading, I call the Commodo-caster. LOL Just a little GAS (guitar acquisition syndrome). Don't worry it will pass...LOL Enjoy.

I have about 10 guitars in the family now, all are different and have different uses and two or three are from "recycled" builds - next there will be the "backup" builds...! (-;

Crap! I forgot the one in the garage, and I'm not counting the clarinet, the flutes, that banjo I usually pretend doesn't exist...

If we are counting everything I'm up to 42 instruments.  I never sell anything but I have given away two guitars, a Sears bass (which I have come to miss) and a uke.  I still have my sisters Danelectro convertable from the mid 60s.
