LOL Maddog. Maybe in another lifetime. I'd more likely be the dirty cowboy at the bar with a bottle, flipping coins to the piano player and demanding another song.

Great song Jim!

I have a mental picture of a gent like yourself sitting in the corner by the piano in an old west saloon singing this ditty to the patrons. At least that's what I see :-)

Yep. That whole thing was a shame. Mainly for what it did for country radio ;)

Thanks turtlehead. They've brought a bunch of related items together from all around into Ford's Theater for a month long exhibit for the 150th. Then everything goes back to the museums and private owners. I'm thinking about making the trip except that I can feel tension building up in me whenever I return to DC! I do consider myself a patriot but I'm the kind that tries to speak out if my country (as often happens) does stupid and just plain wrong things. Funny, I remember when The Dixie Chicks got black balled from country radio for being un-patriotic by criticizing Bush the 2nd and now many of those same folks are saying much worse things about the current Pres. Ahh... the worm turns!

That is great Jim.  The Henry Ford museum here in Michigan has the chair he was shot in - bloodstains and all.  As a child I was horrified, but it wasn't until a trip to DC a couple years ago to visit the Petersen House Museum across the street from Ford's theater where they have the bed he died in that really struck home for me.  Patriotism is a helluva drug.

Thanks SowHound. Lots of  history right in S. Md. I do know the area pretty well. A few years back a friend pointed out the spot near Port Tobacco that Booth is thought to have crossed the Potomac into VA. A few miles S. of the Harry Nice Bridge on 301 is a marker showing where the barn was that Booth was found and killed.
