I've never tried a feather but the way I usually play is resting a finger on the top of the instrument and pivoting on that point marginally over the strings. I really doubt I could keep rhythm and accuracy being above the instrument without a pivot point as you did with the feather. You exampled lots of wrist twists and turns to bring the feather back up on an up beat. Really admirable and impressive to watch but far beyond me. Definitely a man of many talents. :)

Thanks Dani and Bear. I've been practicing with the feather since I have some demonstrations coming up and I want to show this old style of playing. The nice thing for me is that it forces me to keep things real simple since usually I try for too many notes.

A man of many talents. Playing a zither/mountain dulcimer with a feather is a new one on me and even though it's a new one on you too you did it beautifully. Well done on the build and the playing.

These instruments love to be played. They have a soul. I hate to keep them in cases.
