I like it.  Especially the look of the reso and.  Good reso sound from it, but I surprise myself a little by liking the woody tone of the non-reso.  Interesting to read through the string  and tuning discussion.  Usually a double has two tunings - but as it is, you have two sounds.  When I had a double, I went GDG and DGB fretted.  (Both open G - one slide and one finger chorded and a higher pitch.)  Playing well, Bear.

Decided I'm going to buy some baritone strings, further brace the electric side and add an octave below what I've already got. I like deep bassy sounds anyway so it'll be a bit like having a bass three string above (physically above, as in over, I mean) the ADg strings producing the octave they naturally produce.

Looking forward to this! Thanks again Jim. I really and truly appreciate you sharing the idea so freely with me.

Eek Jim! I don't want the twins imploding. I think I'll chicken out and leave it as is haha. What I AM going to do is do the same test on my dog bowl resonator. GDG/Gdg on a six string sounds like a lot of fun. I'll post a video on it soon.

Thanks Erasmo, definitely a whole lot o' git.

Thanks Richard. That was the thinking with this build. Resonator sound and electric side. Now I fancy an octave between so will run some tests then hopefully git'er dun!

Thanks Vinnie. Never had anyone call something I play "killer blues" before! I think this is the first video where anyone leaving a comment has used the word blues and someone else called it blues on this video too. Thanks again for the encouragement.

Thank you ALL for the encouragement! :)

Doubly fun. Each with it's own voice. Nice axes and killer blues.

I could understand the thinking tuning them the same Bear. Two totally distinctive sounds and tones. Jim has great points sounds like. I enjoyed sitting back and watching and listening. Sound and picture quality excellent! Nice playing on your not so regular six stringer.

lol Bear, a theoretical gentleman genius at best since I've never done it in person. My mental extrapolations tell me it should (maybe) work and now I need to make one like yours to put it to the test. Unless, of course, you try it first and the whole thing implodes.

That is a great idea Jim! I think I'm going to restring first thing tomorrow. I'm a bit worried about imploding the cone with these 10s anyway. It's quite a light spun cone and the sound is quite dulled as though it has too much tension using those ADg strings you so rightly identified. I guess another good point you made without making is how natural it would feel having the higher pitched octave on the bottom box, closest to the lap.

You're a gentleman genius Jim. Thank you very, very much!

It sounds like your using the A,D,g strings with the A tuned down to G. For an octave higher you could (perhaps) use the g,b,e strings from a light gauge electric set. The g remains g, the b up 1 1/2 steps to d and the e up 1 1/2 steps to g. I think a set with .009 for the high string could handle this (that's a semi educated guess) Then you'd have an octave higher on one neck. I'd likely put the higher octave on the neck closest to my lap. An octave lower could (maybe) be achieved with a set of baritone guitar strings. For me, spending a few dollars. pounds or euros to experiment is a worthwhile investment!

Thanks Dave. I'm just a little busy still trying to figure out how to sprout new legs so the extra arm and hand will have to join the back of the to-do list. Behind learning to play a double neck guitar and behind how to play guitar in general haha.

Thanks again for your kind words.
