Skeesix replied to Daniel Todd's discussion OSB for CBG Neck?
"My concerns with the OSB for a neck are there is lots of glue, so that would dampen the sound. Also the strands are oriented every which way, so they're not going to be very strong for tension going in one direction. I bet it would be ok as a…"

Skeesix replied to Daniel Todd's discussion OSB for CBG Neck?
"Oriented strand board? I bet it wouldn't sound very good, but don't let me stifle your creativity. There was a luthier who built an archtop guitar from pallet wood and it sounded fantastic. I've also heard cardboard guitars (including…"

Skeesix replied to EzMac's discussion Quiet piezo's
"The closer to the bridge (where there is more downward pressure and string energy), the louder the piezo will get. Directly under the bridge or saddle would be the best spot. An archtop bridge is a little different animal. I have an archtop I was…"

Hey Skeesix, I received my prewired pickup and jack yesterday. Fast delivery. Thank you very much for the directions, too.

Great job. Thanks again.

Skeesix, the pickup on your slide guitar instructionarl video sounds nice & crisp. Whats your secret? Do you have a decent amp? (All I have is a crappy Honeytone...)

Hi Skeesix - Thanks for leaving a comment with my last vid. You asked how I got the vocal effect - its not very clear from the vid but I'm using an old telephone ear-piece as a microphone. Inspired by Bluesbeaten Redshaw and Bol Log III. The signal is then routed via some distortion, a bit of compression and then a little reverb was added.

Glad you liked the vid and here's wishing you a wonderful 2011.

Greetings. program!
Many thanks for the excellent pickup, it sounds awesome! With a clean sound, it has a very (for lack of a better term) One String Willie tone, bright & clear, With some distortion it sings & I also add some octave doubler (one and/or two octaves down) to make the room shake. I play it through an old Barcus Berry bass amp w/ a 2x15 Kustom tuck and roll cabinet. Very cool, many thanks for your hard work, it was a complete success, I wouldn't send anybody anywhere else for a one string pickup!

Yep, the open mic night is in Junie's lounge. I usually get there around 9:30 to put my name on the sign up so I can be around 4th or 5th on the list
