"Good diagram. I found one similar on the net, which is probably what I should've done in the first place. Also should have realised the pots were already earthed to the sleeve. So just a case of zero experience and lack of research on my part.…"

Earthing

Hey guys. I've just finished my 2nd build. I put a p90 in. Sounded great in the dry run before finishing. So a couple of issues now i have it all back together. I earthed the strings via the tail piece to the out jack and now when I touch the strings I get alot of amp noise. It's worse with the volumn down. The tone pot' s not working as well as it did in the dry run either. I tightened the pot's pretty tight. Could that be a problem, have I damaged them?, and what about the earthing?

"I had the same problem with my 2x4 guitar, same scale length.  I started with the 3/4/5 strings as usual (in this case an acoustic set 25/32/42) and couldn't get the low string to come into tune, it was super tight and still a note…"

"Hey chicken bone. Along the same lines, ie, string tension and playability. What is your favourite scale length for cbg's? I made my first one 25.5" and I love it but I've got so much to learn. I've got 3 necks on the go atm and…"

Cigar boxes

Posted on May 31, 2017 at 8:49am 1 Comment

I just dealt with the nicest guy buying boxes. He's in Bundoora in Victoria. I bought 10 boxes from him all good sizes. $8 for dress boxes (Romeo y julieta etc) and $10 for solid cedar raw or lacquer finish. I'm in sydney and he went to some trouble to keep the postage costs down. $25 for all 10 boxes. Cant speak highly enough about how ready he was to help and give me options on the type of stock I was looking for. I told him how happy I was and that I'd give a rap on this site. Drop him an… Continue
