So what do you mean by 'slap'? If the strings are too low to the fingerboard, make the nut and/or bridge higher. If you need to raise the neck up (make higher which will also mean raising the nut and bridge), add  strip of 1/4" oak.

The simplest way at this point would be to thin the top side of neck..the part that is inside the box..by about a quarter inch. Then, brace that area...again, inside the box..from underneath to re-strengthen the neck. This will raise the fret board/neck over the top of the box giving you a lil picking room. Whatever bracing you do to the bottom side of the neck can also protrude from the box an inch or so to fill the hole in your box.
