What's with the strings?
I was watching a video of Northern hill country blues legend Kenny Brown and noticed his strings were hooked into the pickup poles. Is that what I am seeing, and if so, what is this for? Take these strings out of commission, similar to Richard's five-string?

Looks like the string core broke (but is probably still held to the tuner by the outer wraps) and he just kept playing.

yep, I'll second that, then the pole magnet pulled the string to he pickup...maybe?
