I am looking at some suggestions for a couple types of tools to aid in my building...

First... Table Saw vs Mitre saw. Which is the better choice for cutting necks and other hard woods?

Second... Table router or a Dremel-type router?

Appreciate the feedback!

Hi, I think that a table saw would be my first pick as it can be so versatile.

I've used my table saw to rip timber for necks and fingerboards, as well as thickness timber for a range of parts for a CBG. It will cross cut and do mitre's. I can do tenons and check out recesses in box's for necks. Also used it for cutting channels in necks for reinforcing, and I've also used mine to radius fingerboards.

I have both types of saws but used the table saw far more.

Out of the routers I have, and I'm lucky to have them all, I'd say I would use the laminate trimmer style the most. I have a few Dremel  routers but they are a bit light duty, for my liking, but I do use them regally. Not so much for CBG building though.

My most go to machines would be table saw, Bandsaw, Belt/Disc sander, Laminate Trimmer/Router. I have a laminate style trimmer mounted in a table. That gives me a table router and a portable router.

If we are  talking electric devices in the workshop, many people have a beer fridge too. I do. Ha ha.

Cheers Taff

+1 on table saw and laminate trimmer
