Carbon Fibre

I know that a 3 -x4 string CBG neck may not need any reinforcing rod, but I do see posts regarding them at times.

I recently installed  carbon fibre as reinforcement in a square neck lap style Resonator guitar. I thought it turned out to be very cost effective. The material is very light and stiff when installed.

The bar shown was made using 3x strips of 12mmx2mm flat bar epoxied together in a suitable sized 6mm slot. It was then sanded down to the neck surface. Next the ebony fingerboard will add extra stiffness

Cost for materials for one guitar was $9.95au.

Looks like good insurance against neck bending. If I was using a softer wood for the neck, I would definitely consider it.
