Hello I have a question,

I have taken apart an old quarter size electricbass guitar, and waswondering if icould use the pick up on my CGB.

The Pickup looks like its actually 2 separate pickups, each with 4 pole pieces each, which have been wired in dasy chain fashion.

Would a bass pick up work for a 3 or 4 string CGB?

It'll work great.
Actually, if you feel comfortable taking them apart, or unsoldering them you actually have 2 pickups there for 2 - 4 string guitars. It's wired up like a P-Bass pickup, 2 single-coil pups wired together as a humbucker. IF you take them apart, they'll work perfectly as single coil pups
fantastic ! they look like this....

thanks for the help!
This is slightly off topic but I wanted to mention it .The other day I was going thru some old parts and junk to clear some space around the house. I came across and old cordless phone we had meant to throw out ages ago. I got to thinking about the innards of this phone. I pulled it apart to get to the earpiece and used that as a pickup.Works great and didnt cost a thing.
