So I've been doing research about printing a backwards logo on wax paper then Transfer the wet ink to the headstock wood and I finally decided to try it tonight. Man that wax paper jammed my printer badly and I decided to take apart my printer. That made it worse. I finally fixed my printer but now I know this technique will not work.

How do you guys do this type of thing?

A lot of people use water slide decal paper to do logos .............................. you can get it for inkjet or laser printers. A quick Google search should have you pointed in the right direction in no time ;-)

Vodka. That's funny.

I have an awesome inkjet and its automatic feed.

Can you buy the water slide paper at staples for cheap?
I don't remember writing awesome but it works. As of staples they don't carry it locally. They said online only. Also their decals are pretty expensive.

To do this logo quickly and cheaply I just purchased reynolds freezer paper for $2.19. It is thicker than wax paper so the odds are looking promising. I'll let you all know if I succeed.

The decal ideas is still a great suggestion. I hope I don't have to use it.
I have succeed. Wish it was a little bit more centered but it worked so in not that picky.

tried Staples a few months back and when I asked about it I got the deer in the headlights look from the clerk.. had on idea what I was talking about.. just left and gave up.. only O/L that I could find was expensive for shipping if you can imagine. but that is it Canada of course, so now with shipping plus the difference in the $, forget it...

If you want to source the water slide decals locally, try hobby shops. There used on model airplanes/cars, R/C whatever and miniature railroads. Testors, the company famous for their model glue and paint is a good quality brand of water slide decal paper. Make sure to get the right kind for your printer (inkjet/laser).

+1 for the waterslide decals. Works slicker than snot on a brass doorknob!
What about a chrome doorknob?

not sure, but if the chrome isn't "antiqued" should be slick as well!

Good. ;)

The other option is to print it backwards on photo glossy paper, glue it with Gel Medium and later, once dry, use water to rub off the paper...  I think that laser printers work better that way...

lots of youtube vids.

I use tung oil almost exclusively, I put one or two coats on the headstock then hit it with some 0000 steel wool then apply the decal and then do the remaining coats.  I learned the hard way do not touch a decal after spraying with laquer it liquefies the decal.   By having a coat of whatever finish on the wood before applying the decal takes pretty well care of the porosity issue.
