Check out the tda2008 amplifier chip. It can put out 7 watts or so. It,is designed for car radios and will run on 12 volts. I do not know how successful people have been using it for guitar amps. But... It does have the power capability on battery.

You would probably have to work out a buffer for standard pickups or piezo pickups and perhaps and tone stack. A neat project if you ar so inclined. Done well, seven watts is a lot.

why not us a guitar amp? I don't get the problem. SS guiar amps are cheap......but im new hee so wht do I know? lol

Hey wayfinder, on the 15 watt jobby, what did you use for a power, supply, speaker etc? Did you build your own tone stack for it?

It looks off the bat like a wonderful platform to start from.

I get the home brew thing....I've built two Tube amps a Tweed Delux and Vibro Champ.and a clone of Fenders 6G15 reverb unit. There are lots of kits and schematics out there for small tube amps no biggr than a stomp box. The 5 w Vibrochamp will make a great CBG amp. but now I'll start looking at some 1 w tube amps.

I'm with ya Ce24. Why not a guitar amp. A CBG is a Guitar. You will spend a bit more. But you may end up with enough watts to scream over. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. Then you can get stomp boxes to tailor it to your likings later.

lol yeah ya gotta read up on cpacitors for sure....however I did a search on solid state guitar amp kits and there are some nice kits out there.....saw one for like 20 buks.

Indeed, those capacitors can drop you hard and permanent. Btw, the firefly 1 watt tube amp is a cool cat. Always wanted to do one. Currently restoring a 1947 Gibson BR6 tube amp.
