My thoughts and opinions as I drink my second PBR with spicy hot V8 juice.   PBR and spicy hot V8 juice.  Cheap and good.  Like CBGs.

I see a decline in the numbers of videos and photos posted on CBN.   Is interest decreasing?

I have a shit-load of opinions on this, but right now, I want to hear what you think.  What is the state of the CBG world and where is it going?

As long as we're name-dropping...

Nice outfit, Jim!

Thanks, Unc. Say... any chance you know a good tailor? The suit needs to be let out a bit in the middle.

Wait. Better question: where did all the phone booths go???

So THAT'S what the "S" stands for...huh.

The KINGS!!!!!!

LOL, Clock.  You look good with Shane.

Oops! I've been found out...  :-(

Elvis has left the building.

I knew your vocals sounded familiar.

Here’s a thing (having emptied the wine bottle).  Not entirely ‘on topic’ but I think that this thread is now quite a broad church.

Back in the day, people couldn’t afford a ‘proper’ instrument.  They looked at the instruments that they couldn’t afford and they improvised with whatever they had to hand.

Today, as I type, I have a beautiful old Yamaha acoustic, a Mexican Telecaster, a Gretsch Pro Jet and a Modern Player Jaguar bass upstairs, with a few decent amps.  I'm extremely fortunate - all of these guitars are very playable and, musically, are capable of far more than I am.  I don’t need to improvise, I’ve got some great instruments.

So, why would I build my own 4-string CBG bass ?  The first few CBGs were a challenge but now I know that I can do it and that it will sound OK.  I also know that my CBG bass is unlikely to feel as nice as that Jazz neck on the MP Jag bass.  Answers on a postcard, please.  I’ve bought all the bits but they’re in a cupboard because I’m not sure if I want to build it.  What is it that makes us copy antique instruments using modern components ?

Well said!

"What is it that makes us copy antique instruments using modern components?"

Bloody-mindedness. ;-)

Similar situation with my commercial gits here. I reach for the CBGs more often. Although, tomorrow, I'm getting everything out of the cases, and hanging them up on the wall until I run out of hangers. Should be an interesting mix.
