Licence plates

Hi All

I am planing to try a licence plate guitar and was wondering if there was a difference in the sound quality

of a pre 1950 metal plate and a modern alloy plates.

Any thoughts would be appreciated thanks  from the UK

I am not aware of any sound difference. Though the ferrous metal ones may react differently if you use a magnetic pickup underneath.

Dont know about the UK types. But the older Yank types for sure sound better. The older metal ones will give you a bit of a buzz like a resonator. The newer ones are about as acoustically interesting as a piece of plywood.
