Dylan: A Handmade Tribute

Cigar Box Nation members interpret the music of Bob Dylan onto handmade instruments.  Originally released in 2013, this tribute was arranged, compiled and produced by C# Merle with help from Silent Jim.

We have placed all 25 songs onto one .zip file for ease of downloading:

Hey Larry. Are you talking about a video file? I assume you must be as it was 827MB. Sounds like you need to zip the audio from the vid.
There are loads of ways to do this. Here's a couple of ways:
1.

If you haven't already got it, download the free VLC Media Player here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html. This excellently versatile media player has the facility to extract the audio from the video. Here are instructions on how to do that: http://en.kioskea.net/faq/1266-extracting-the-sound-from-a-video-wi....

2.

Use a video to mp3 converter like this one: http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/guides/free-video-to-mp3-converter.htm. (I haven't used it, so can't vouch for the program)

3.

Upload your video to Youtube. and then rip the audio using a web-based converter like these: http://www.listentoyoutube.com/  http://www.vidtomp3.com/  http://www.fullrip.net/

I hope that's of help?

Thanks, VH. I'll give those ideas a try.

You guys are great! I'm downloading the VLC Media Player as I type, and I plan to try that first. I'll try your method if I get stuck. Thanks for the help.

I give up! I got a wav version of the audio file, but it was still much too large to send. I tried several other approaches to no avail. So I am uploading the original video file to YouTube. Tags include cbg, cigar box guitar, Bob Dylan and, naturally, Bob Dylan's 115th Dream. Good luck peeling the sound file away. Thanks and good night all!

only MP3 files can be sent by email, no need to use zip. there is an MP3 conversion program on windows media which i always found easy to use,  it can compress 80mb wav. files down to email friendly file sizes, 4 or 5 mb  (-:

co-ordinating a tribute album is a heck of a lot of work, tag your files and make life a little easier for Merle, and get 'em in on time! (-:

I'm a Mac person. Windows media no :-(

got it from your yt vid larry. we got there in the end:)

Right! Got my take on Girl From the North Country emailed. Just in time too, as me and Mrs Vinylhed are off on holiday tomorrow. I'm looking forward to hearing the album when we come back from our travels in the East Country...or Norfolk.

I used three of my guitars on the track. My first build, a 6 string made from a Marmite tin, a 4 string made from a Rocky Patel box and a 3 string Antonio Gimenez CBG.

I've been playing "make you feel my love" since this idea was presented. I've enjoyed it immensely. Even played it at an open mic. I recorded a rough take of it with my phone and shared it with a couple of close friends. I'm ready to record!

can't wait to hear it. when you connect with a song it really comes across in the performance.

beautiful job vinylhed. with everyone playing homemade instruments it takes it to a whole other level:)

Looks like we have one heck of an. Album
