Never to old to get STUPID! I've been using a table saw since I was around 12. I'm almost 66. Lost the end of my finger today. Not real bad, finger will heal, just meat and fingernail. But what a wake up call. First accident with a table saw. I've hurt myself on a grinder more than anything else. I got just a little to confident...

Not a good thing, or a good night. My Dremel ate through my thumbnail last night. A little sore to the touch, but I think I'll be able to play tomorrow night. Was using the router attachment and a router blade the thin out a top.

I'll go slower next time, and will probably go ahead and get a real attachment for it instead of plastic one that came with it.
I might add, I was sawing a thin piece of Bloodwood. Maybe that had something to do with it. Maybe that is how it got it's name?!
My grandfather had a prominent scar on his left thigh that they told me was from a table saw. I never got to ask just how the hell he could have done that....

I don't even need power tools. I managed to saw halfway through my left index with a hacksaw back when I was a kid...
Guess I shoulda stopped....
Sorry to hear about that Ouch, thankfully it wasn't worse, I've seen some really nasty accidents over the years working in the construction trade involving people Vs. machines, the machines don't give a damm what they cut, grate,drill,burn or crush, etc...

I never lost any digits but I've shed plenty of skin and leaked a lot of blood, taken a few hundred stitches and staples,broke some bones along the way too but it never kept me from going back to work for very long, I always thought of getting hurt as an occupational risk and part of what I did for a living, sometimes no matter how safety conscious you are there is that moment of "Oop's" and that's all it takes.

Get better Paul, your not alone in the "Oop's" category by a long shot. (:>}

Lou.
Between my lack of patience and my tendency to go work in the shop after a beer or two, I think I'll stick with the hand tools; I don't think I trust myself enough to use anything more dangerous than a cordless drill.

Now that is a cool and useful invention. I don't own a table saw because I am deathly afraid of them, but if I got one, it would have to be the Sawstop.

If you're getting near a blade (tablesaw, bandsaw etc.), always use a push stick!!! If you're losing alertness and concentration, it's time to quit. Of course, beer is the last thing you want to be doing around power tools. Kind of like driving a car (except for the push stick part - lol).
