No guitar effects, no video filters, nothing to hide behind except my sunglasses. Unplugged, fully acoustic 12 bar blues with embellishments.

Status Quo rocked. Just playing around with a few chords to fill out the skill set a little more. If I can get a couple of fingering variations of the major and minor then get to grips with 7ths (great bluesy sound) then I’ll be happy enough with that.

I think because I’ve played slide every day for four years now, sometimes several times a day, and slide almost exclusively I’m most comfortable doing that. I’m not sure I’d say I’m good at it but sometimes I think it’s good to not be as accurate and pent up with aiming for perfect all the time. I love listening to sloppy blues using a slide because I think that’s more akin to how people talk. It is like language and I wouldn’t want to be the chap talking with perfect Queen’s English. I’m a northerner who slurs bits here and there and I’d like to get that accent in my slide playing too.

It’s a none stop journey this learning thing and I’m so happy and grateful for that.

Thanks again Digly and hope you have a great weekend :0)

I always find slides more difficult. With frets and chords, the position of the notes is fairly well defined.  With a slide, you have to find notes by intuition and by ear.  It's obvious if you're looking in the wrong place for the note.  Your slide playing always comes across as nicely accurate.  You don't need many chords anyway.  Status Quo built a career on 3 ;-)

Thanks DiglyDog. Thinking of all the videos I’ve posted I think this is my first one where I’m not wearing a slide at all. Conscious of the fact that I may be compensating with the slide to cover for the lack of chord knowledge? Felt strange with no slide at all anyway but glad that it worked well enough that you and others enjoyed the video. Thanks again my friend. Your kind words of encouragement are greatly appreciated. :0)

Thanks Andries. Glad that you liked it and I’ll definitely work on it some more and add a solo and change it up more so it has some variety. Thanks for the tip on adding the solo,  I think that’s what I need to do as the next step. Always appreciate your kind words my good friend. Thanks again :0)
