hey  , you're  welcome  .  metal  does  work sometimes  , but depending on   the fret   spot  and thickness   , and metal  content  ..  sometimes it wants to pick  up  the  actual note  instead of the chime  . i  find  a pick  pretty consistant  ,  and   hey    ..  there are always  handy  ..  and easy to    twist in and out  ;-)

Harmonics. It works with forks and screwdrivers (and anything else thin you can slip between strings), too. Metal items give it more chime. Never done this with a pick, though. Thanks, pick!

i  forgot to mention , (as bemuzic  said )  the  5th fret   is  a sweet spot  on most guits too .
