"Time After Time" on 3 string Cigar Box Guitar

I felt like the time was right for this Cyndi Lauper song on Cigar Box Nation. I mean RTZ has done Elton John, turtlehead did Royals by Lorde and most recent...

Yeah turtlehead, I thought you might like them. You know, that's exactly what's giving me problems with Happy too. Nice groove and fun min7 chords and pretty cool song, but can't quite figure out how to sing it. I'm thinking about lowering the key and singing it like a grumpy old man pretending to be happy. Well it'd be different anyway

Good call on Tuck and Patti Jim, they are pretty incredible.  I gave Happy a try a little while back and ended up with some cool 7th chord grooves, but gave up because I couldn't find the melody. I think that's something about today's music.  Nice beats and grooves, but weak melodies.  I'd love to hear you give it a go though!

Yeah Richey, maybe not my favorite decade for music (60's win hands down) but I try to listen to songs and mentally strip them down. I listen to current songs and try to do that and some of it doesn't suck as much as I otherwise might have thought. It's the slick, overproduction that I dislike more than the songs themselves. I'm playing around with doing Pharrel's "Happy" on 3 string. What do you think?

Yeah, I totally agree Turtlehead and Jim. The 80s is a very underrated decade for music. Then again I'm not adverse to a bit of synth pop, or anything for that matter!

Yup, I'm with you turtlehead  And Thanks! For me it's always hearing a song on beyond whatever arrangement a producer insists on ( I need more cowbell) And when I heard Tuck and Patti do this (please check them out) and when Cyndi started  doing this song on lap dulcimer! Well, any song that survives the test of many different styles goes into the "great song" category in  my book. Maybe cheesy if you only think of one version, but classic is what comes to my mind! Next, hmmm... Freebird on 3 string! Oh yeah!!!

Oh Yeah!  You chose wisely Jim, this is a fine song and you do it a great service on 3 strings.  There are a bunch of great 80s songs that got bogged down in cheesy synth arrangements that don't get the credit they deserve.

Oh, plus I blame Cris Portillo for this since he did a Madonna cover last week!
