nicely played RTZ !  my Dad visited NY during WW2, they were amazed by the Statue of Liberty when they steamed in, they didn't know it was green! (-;

Thanks RTZ. I wasn't aware of it's Baptist hymn connection. Yup, You Are My Sunshine is a great place to start on 3 stringers. That's what I usually use when I give my sales pitch that I can teach a song to a beginner in 5 min. on a stick dulcimer! Great ideas on easy tuning changes using the heavier strings.

Thank you John, Jim I did read the background as the melody is so familiar. The song was First called God Blessed America in response to God Bless America.    this is wiki post.

Nicely done RTZ! We just have try and fill that hole the best way we can. You, and Unc too might interested in listening to "My Little Darling" by the Carter family for a little background on where Woody came up with this melody. But I suspect you might already know that!

So I'm doing a study on standard tuning on 3 string guitar. this was the start.

These are all plain steel light GBE slinky strings.

So a lot of fretting and country slide, sweet where is my Fender amp slide 

then the heavy set standard tuned EAD that when the fun starts.

I like that you can drop the E to D for a drop D tuning, DAD

and on the high set drop the E to D to get the top of open G tuning. GBD

All relative for 6 string guitar players.
