HELLO , Chickory, and Tampura are the names of the bridges on a sitar there are two on there the chickory is the one for the playing strings up to 6 or 7 sometimes 12, and the resonating strings for the long and sustaining ring (Buzz) is cald the Tampura, there can be up to 13 of these strings, and  from the playing sting you realy only play one or two, the other Chikari strings  resonate as well, so UJ  and rev Gary, its not the type of wood, flower or weed , but just the name of the part of the Sitar. Hope this exsplains ! and Yes Richard my sound is prodused whit only four (4) stings and no rezonating strings, so you must know i was pretty surprised to hear the sound after produsing the Bridge in the manor shown below, thanks for the interest and questions ! The secret of Chickory Bridge would have been a great title for my Saturday in the park vid. Very interesting and entertaining and as UJ mentioned, the essence of Ravi! To get a sitar sound with only four string, nice job and definitely a enjoyable listen Andries!
