This is a true Frankenstein masterpiece... one of the best mutants I've ever played. It starts with a vintage 1960's Teisco EC 200 "Tulip" guitar featuring their rock solid lam neck. The body is in great shape, sporting the usual dings from 40+ years. The body was then nicely routed out to house two smoking Washburn pickups in the positions once held by the Teisco singles. The original Teisco pickguard was then modded to have a three position switch (neck/both/bridge pickups) and separate volume and tone knobs for each pickup. YEAH! THIS IS FRIGGIN' WILD!
The art of the build:: I used many different parts to complete this guitar such as knobs from a Tele copy, knobs from a stereo, an old Harmony chrome cover (to cover bridge holes a previous owner drilled), tuner bushings from an old Decca guitar... However, all parts fit perfectly into one gorgeous art guitar. It's beautifully psychotic and magnificently trashy. To top it all off, I added a graphic of the original Frankenstein goddess, the Bride. (I've seen many "Frankenstein" guitars over the years that sport a picture of Boris Karloff. I just couldn't bring myself to put that lumpy ol' dude on this axe. This guitar is just too sleek and has a purr like nothing else. I chose to use the glamour shot of the Bride of Frankenstein, Elsa Lanchester instead. It's perfect.
THE TONE OF THIS GUITAR:
Imagine the playability of a mean old Teisco mixed with the snarl of Dimebag Darrell. It's ungodly loud and clear. I have it strung with John Pearse Jazz electric guitar strings (featuring a wound G string) because I'm a slide player. This axe sounds like unbridled Chicago blues sex when played with a slide. If you like trashy Teisco guitars for that Hound Dog Taylor vibe, but you've wanted to try some new tones to expand your palate, this is your Bride. I especially love the sound of both pickups on with the bridge tone rolled off 50% and fed into distortion.
Specs: Vintage 1960's Teisco EC 200 "Tulip" body and neck Humbucking pickups, wiring and knobs by Washburn Bridge, tailpiece culled from similar 1960's Harmony 801 guitar Chrome knobs taken from various guitars, stereo If international shipping, I will detach the neck from the guitar to pack in a smaller box. Shipping overages (if any) will be refunded.
