Somewhere Over The Rainbow, played on four string cigar box guitar. This is the first thing I have put here using fingering rather than just slide. I really wasn't getting fingering, which I don't really understand, but for some reason something clicked and so here is my first attempt at doing something with fingering and some slide.

Funnily enough learning this coincided with that arrival of a really super gift. Keni Lee's CD 6 which uses the same tuning intervals on three strings as the upper three on the four sting that I am using. I am only just starting to go through the lessons, but it makes a lot of sense.

The guitar is tuned GDGB. The guitar has both humbucker and two piezos in the bridge. He amp is a Kustom Arrow 16DFX, set to the clean channel with the three EQ knobs level and some reverb/chorus.

By the way, if you want to hear/see how it should be done go to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ubVGiyAhkY
and find the extraordinary Tommy Emmanuel playing what I think is the best version I have heard.

Very nice, man... fun to have a style and/or skill breakthrough...I just had a little level-jump with my six-string playing...nice to feel like some progress is being made.

Hi John.

Thanks for the comments. I know we all keep learning, but if you still have a lot to learn where does that leave someone like me? Oh the learning curve!

Thanks and all the best.

John

Hi John and Sammy.

Thanks for the comments.

Sammy. Thanks. A lot of truth in what you say. I think the biggest buzz is in learning new things and a lot of that comes from other people on this site. Oh, and thanks for NOT using the word "obsession".

All the best.

Awesome John, what a lovely version of a classic heart tugging tune. Loved it. So did so many other people judging by the comments you picked up. How obvious it is that you 'really' love Cigar Box Guitars and this site. Well done mate. Bet there's hardly a day goes by without you picking up one of your CBG's. You are an inspiration. Thanks

Hi Ben and Rob.

Thanks for taking time to listen and to comment. Rob. The arrangement was very much influenced by Tommy E (link above). Not saying I get within a hundred miles of him because clearly I don't and never will, but I just love the way he plays. I only heard about him a few months ago. What I had been missing until that point.

All the best and thanks again.
