Somewhere Over The Rainbow, played on four string cigar box guitar. This is the first thing I have put here using fingering rather than just slide. I really wasn't getting fingering, which I don't really understand, but for some reason something clicked and so here is my first attempt at doing something with fingering and some slide.
Funnily enough learning this coincided with that arrival of a really super gift. Keni Lee's CD 6 which uses the same tuning intervals on three strings as the upper three on the four sting that I am using. I am only just starting to go through the lessons, but it makes a lot of sense.
The guitar is tuned GDGB. The guitar has both humbucker and two piezos in the bridge. He amp is a Kustom Arrow 16DFX, set to the clean channel with the three EQ knobs level and some reverb/chorus.
By the way, if you want to hear/see how it should be done go to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ubVGiyAhkY
and find the extraordinary Tommy Emmanuel playing what I think is the best version I have heard.

That's the new box u just made too!! that was really good John ,,, Loved the sound on the guitar !
Hi Keni Lee.
I hope nobody questions that everything you said was constructive. There is too much past evidence of that for it to be in doubt, but I do think you are the master in the context of much of the progress that happens for people on this site. It isn't so much an identity as a roll. You have a methodical approach and you share that through your videos, CDs and information that you post here.
Most of us are not going to go for weekly guitar lessons to a teacher. Where else are we going to get a systematic approach to our playing? You give that structure to what would otherwise be a haphazard process for many people who use this site. It is a very valuable role and I think that in this context it is the roll of master (though you are probably too modest to admit it).
All the best.
John
My intentions are always to be supportive and constructive. Read my comments. My suggestion was simply meant to be an encouragement. John is a shining example of a builder who is also advancing as a player too. Many times (me included) we waste endless hours just noodling. You learn a great deal by figuring out / arranging and perfecting a complete performance. This takes patience and persistence. Of course, there is nothing wrong with posting a "work in progress" too. I would like to see more of this here on the nation. I will tell you this, it does not matter how well you do something, it really matters how much you enjoy doing it. Usually, because of this attitude, you are willing to seek out higher knowledge, practice long hours, and you challenge yourself to learn it. Just like building. Learning and refining. I am far from a master. My inspiration comes from my teacher, Bob Brozman ( http://www.bobbrozman.com/). I have a meer fraction of his talent, but I keep working. Bemuzic is another fine example. I appreciate your friendship. Thank you for your consideration, Keni Lee
Hi Larry.
Wow. Thank you. What can I say except that?
All the best.
John
Well. That was pretty exceptional.
Hello Henry.
Thank you very much. Really nice of you to comment.
All the best.
John
Hi Dave.
Thanks for the comment. Hope you are well.
All the best.
John
Hi Kevin and Eric.
Thanks to both of you for the very nice words. Yes. It is great when progress seems to happen and makes up for all those "banging head on wall" moments. In reality, those times contribute to the progress as well but it doesn't seem like it.
All the best.
John
Nice one John
