I went [I] down to the [V] train yard,
with my [IV] satchel in my [I] hand.
Headed some place to [V] be a new [I] man.

I left behind a [V] woman,

I was tired of working, tired of that old grind.

I had to ride the [V] blinds

I hopped the Southern Pacific and [V] left one stormy [I] night.

Had a [IV] job on the Frisco [I] Bay.
I had it made till I [V] pissed it all a-[I]way.

I got in with a [V ] bad crowd
and [IV] ended up in [I] jail

I'm a drunk and a [V] bum.
