or a  mag  pup   under  the  lid  ..  (  it  will still read the strings through  the lid  . )

Dani (or Bear),

Mount your humbucker upside down ABOVE the strings, on the edge of the picture board where it attaches to the neck. Or get a Thinbucker from Dan Sleep, a FlatCat from Wayfinder, or the original from Elmar Zeilhofer. Any of them should fit beneath the strings without having to cut a pup slot.

Charity shop/thrift store Darryl. Never thought about it being a lapsteel instrument Pick. I'll consider that if I'm finding holding it like a guitar a problem. Thanks. Now I just have to get over the heartache of cutting into the face of it to put a humbuck in it.

it would  make a  fine  lap guitar as  is without  messing   with the neck  .
