Aha, AGP!   I think you're onto something there!  Thanks!

A fine sounding build Rev, according to Uncle John's theory on different can's affecting the tone, suggests that your Cans sound should be "Thin and Wafery" but its not !!!  :-D

Good, Jim!   Glad it was recognizable!

Pick - wow!  High praise from a master!  ;-)

Dave - This is my 3rd canjo.  First was a bean can, mounted atop the neck, and fretted.  Second was a couple days ago with the top-mounted PBR can and first try using wooden toothpick frets.  This one with the neck mounted inside the can makes attacking the can a lot easier.  I did leave about 1/4" from the end of the neck to the inside bottom of the can, to allow free vibration of the can-bottom.  Poked a hole in the bottom to thread the string through (actually, two holes - to adjust the action!).

Uncle John - great insight!  As noted, this is only my 3rd canjo, so I'm still learning all of the nuances you are talking about!  Thanks!

big can good! Have you noticed that the kind of can affects tone? tomato best for salsa and latin, bean for cowboy songs, corn for old timey, peaches for blues.

Can o fun Rev. I thought canjos had a bow action something like a washtub bass. Your stiff necked fretted version is tops.
