Thanks Jon.  I have a three that does not get much play.  Think I will convert it to a GDGB four.   Sure sounds good for you.

Uncle John:  I like having the fourth string so that I have the root not of the open chord as my low note.  It allows for walking bass lines, more easily.  And, the way I play, "more easily" is a good thing!  I can't see any negatives in the playability, and the added bass note capability makes it that much more fun, for me.

 

It was an experiment for me, and it's one I consider a success.  I recommend it.

Dang, Jon.   You sound great on that four string.   You always sound good on your 3s.  But better on this. 

 

Slowhand Steve got me thinking about a 4 in your same tuning.  Now I hear yours and I am tempted to build one.  Please tell me how you think a the 4 compares to a DGB three; playability, sound and fun.
