Yes indeed Digly. But then I go to music festivals and gatherings here in the US where I encounter groups of teenagers and younger playing traditional music, sometimes on instruments of their own making, and my faith is restored!

Amen to that Digly.

The passion for education that kids have in developing countries is amazing. They grab any way to improve themselves and the situation of their family. Then here in the UK, education is free and you get some (not all) kids saying "can't be bothered", or "bored" or "it's too difficult".  It'd be very interesting to give them a 2-month exchange visit with the kids living on a landfill.

Yeah. It brought to mind the old saying,  "I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet". It brought tears to my eyes.

Somebody shared this on Facebook today and by chance I saw it earlier tonight, and I guess tens of thousands of other people have too. Very moving and inspiring.

Thanks for the BBC link Mark. I'm gonna try to watch the whole doc when time permits. Yup I learned some things too. That oil can cello is working in my brain and is quickly moving up to the top of my list!

Pretty cool - and I learned some enlightening stuff that helped me in my instrument building

Thanks to all. This video came to me by way of a friend who knows the kind of stuff I and we at CB Nation do. He was so moved by it and he figured that folks like us would have a deep connection. We do it for the fun and creativity but neccessity was and still is the mother of cigar box, tin can, 2x4, gourd, hubcap, hole in the ground, etc. instruments. Katfish is right - music always finds a way, for it fills a deep need in humans around the world!

1 - Music always finds a way... 2 - Keep the video handy for those that complain, yet have all they need (they probably won't understand though)...
