thanks Digly, ha yes., I have wondered if Tesco's would let me busk just outside but in the undercover bit. Would be handy for a rainy day...

I love your skill with the looper. So casual, personal and fresh. Thanks Bemusic!

I like the idea of an indoor busk but perhaps indoors at Tesco would be more lucrative :-)

Nice work !

yes, you can do a lot with 3 chords! I used to just wait for songs to come along, but I found the exercises in this book really helpful, to kick start things a bit https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19048151-songwriters-playground

lol, yeah it's ok, but still nice when people do listen : -)

We also work with three chords ;-)Perhaps I notice lyrics because I'm jealous of those who can- what was it you said about "if you're not listening that's ok"?
Comment by bemuzic on September 17, 2017 at 10:44am

and thanks for noticing the lyrics. People who listen to lyrics are rarer than hen's teeth!

ha, well if we can work with 3 strings, maybe 3 semitones could be enough?! Seriously though, if you keep singing it'll improve...

Did I mention that I also have an effective vocal range of about three semitones? You can actually carry a tune, and that's rarer than a lot of people think- AND you have a gift for lyrics.

Thanks for the link- I'll check it out!

ha, I think that comes with practice too.

When I recorded my first EP I couldn't actually perform the songs! I recorded one track at a time, often not even one track all the way through, but compiled from several takes.I also smothered the vocals in effects (reverb or distortion) to hide them as it made me cringe so much!

Here's the EP if you fancy a listen https://bemuzic.bandcamp.com/album/if-youre-not-listening-thats-ok-ep

I sometimes want to take the earlier stuff off, but think it's nice to show the whole journey...

I don't know why, because I was certain I would never play them in front of anyone! I started learning to play them. As you say singing AND playing is tricky. I then thought I'd give busking a go, and as my playing was so basic, I thought if I sang as well it'd open up so much more. You can get away with some very simple guitar if it's within a song. I still can't really believe that I play and sing in front of people, lol!
