Thanks for that info Keith. I usually do a version with 6 or 7 verses in it. I may have taken some of the verses from other singers. Man, I'd sit there for the hour or two to hear all 80 of the original verses! I've heard some of the versions that lean more toward main stream Christianity but for me they remove some of the angst and doubt of the original. Even Jesus expressed those emotions when he cried to God "Why have you forsaken me" as he hung on the cross. Thanks for your comment and for expanding my knowledge about this great song.

Well done, can tell it was heartfelt. What many people don't know, is that Leonard Cohen wrote 80 verses to this song. When he wanted to record it, the producers told him that he would have to pick only a few to record. He told them he wanted more than just his voice on it, and they started to balk, cause they didn't want to pay others to be recorded on it. So he asked family members and some friends, to please sing with him for the recording, and they obliged. I have a feeling that, he was in a crossroads of how up to that point, he was living his life, and he was trying to reconnect with his faith in God. But that is only my thoughts. What I really would like to know, is what were all the other verses. Many have added other verses, or just used the music and come up with other words, there is one for Christmas and Jesus birth, and others are doing other Christian verses too.

Thanks Andries. I left out many very deep verses since the whole song runs about 6 minutes but this song grabbed me long ago and I wanted to do it here. I put it off for a few days because I thought maybe Derek Rose or J Rob might jump on it with their wonderful voices.
