Forget- Me-Not - Demo, on 2 String First Aid Kit Guitar

I wrote this song soon after reading Wendy Mitchell's book, Somebody I Used To Know.
The book is available here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wendy-Mitchell/e/B078XJ3WLS/ref=dp_byline_cont_ebooks_1
I think it's the only book about dementia written by somebody living with it.
I had nursed many people with dementia when I worked as a psychiatric nurse years ago, but of course I was only seeing the end stages. This book gives an incredible insight into the early stages.
I was stunned by Wendy's bravery and resourcefulness! Having left her job, she spends her time travelling all over the country, raising awareness about dementia.
She is also writing a blog "Which Me am I Today?" which you can follow here https://whichmeamitoday.wordpress.com/
The Forget-Me-Not symbol is the logo for the Altzheimer's Society and is often used an emblem by dementia communities.

I'm playing a home made 2 string guitar. The first aid kit tin is quite old (The price label of 13 shillings and sixpence is still on it, which seems quite pricey now I think about it!) My parents used it when we were children...
I'm using an Electroharmonix22500 for the looping.

thanks Jim, yes I think it's as tough at whatever age. Not so much awareness about early onset dementia as only about 4% of people fall into that category and getting a diagnosis can take longer. I know there are some genetic factors, but others too, so fingers crossed for you! I highly recommend Wendy's book...

Wonderful song Be. I'll have to read that book. It's a subject I've dealt with with family. Well, it wasn't early onset since Mom was 90 when it started. But still very tough and a thing I may be looking at in the future.

that's great John, yeah music is something that seems to be able to be enjoyed by anyone, at any age and with any disability or illness

Be, stop and play music at 2 Memory Care Units / dementia and Alzheimer's patients.  They are not usually very lively, but they seem generally happy and most of them like music and remember lyrics from old songs.

thanks John, the book is amazing. It really made me see things differently, and made the thought of dementia less scary...

Love the sound, song and poignant subject.  A scary thing and sad too.  One of your prettiest songs.
