hey dave, my song comes in at about the one minute mark. how about leading it off with something like this..............i'm sit-in around and watching the fire, playin the fiddle while the embers glow. should add a log, but would need too get up, and i'd hate to interrupt the flow of the bow........so i went to the pub to have some grub,..............

jeez louse,....better do the dishes before the wife gets home...(insert above?).......best leave the music to you......

Thanks Matthew. I’m having fun with this. I’ll try your palm up method for bowing. Makes sense. I think Your inspiration is catching. I wan’t to make a shorter necked one for higher pitch strings. And seeing what UNCLE DOES WILL BE VERY INTERESTING. I was playing John Dollie last night. Maybe have to do Uncle John Diddly?

Uncle, do you have a way to dub? I do mine in iMovie. It just requires ear phones to monitor what you’re playing along with. iMovie came with my pad. It makes nice videos. I have 4 tracks. And I think driving vermin away should be a side bennifit. But obviously this is attracting vermin. Just look who commented on my caterwauling?

Hunh!  Fiddle and harmonica at the same time, Daniel?!   I just tried it and sustained neck and brain injuries.

Dave, I am set up similar to what you say.  Flat finger board seems fine.  I am at 17 inch scale, the same as a viola  and DG tuning, the same as the center two strings on a viola. I think I can go professional with mine ---  as a critter exterminator.  I fiddle and the mice and vermin gallop away

or, UJ, you can lead them away, wasn't that in some movie? you have the talent to make it sound good. faith. might be a bit complicated to add the harmonica.

fiddle sounds nice, smooth. i did notice the stain on beatle's instrument. was going to comment about using a torch for embellishments. lyrics were late in the night. song just sounded a bit Irish. it was late. hard to write some lyrics without the ability to add dynamics, drawn out words, and embellishments as well. i'll need to drag out my bow and do some thinking.

Hi Uncle. Great hearing you’re trying the fiddle. I like it a lot. We’ll have some fun. Next time i’ll Play guitar first and dub the fiddle and cookie tin drum. I found it worked much better playing along with my band as an acompamnyist and not lead (yet). I’ll try Matt’s palm up method. We’re using different positions to hold the fiddle. His rests in his elbow and mine is pinched in my lap. Next one I make, i’m Going with a shorter neck more like Matt’s and use viola strings. I want a higher pitch squall (like pulling the cat’s tail). My little diddle cut right through in the play on Saturday. Tony could hear it clear in the other room even. I think i’m Hooked. I like the two string for now. I don’t need a curved fingerboard or bridge and I can bow either string without rubbing the box edge. I don’t need the cut ins to my box edges. Look at the latest vintage fiddle Beetle just posted. He called it a guit but it looks like a fiddle to me. It has clear rub marks from a bow rubbing the box edge. And there’s a big chin stain too. It’s a beauty!
