This is a song on my recently built 12 string guitar. I used the neck and tailpiece from a 1960's Decca guitar and attached it to an antique silverware box. ...

Thank you, John! I wish I could have seen them live. They were great and also influenced many of my heroes. This 12 is pretty heavy for an acoustic - about the same as my solid body tele, so far I have not put any strap buttons on. It is comfortable in the lap and I am liking playing it.
Thank you, Kale. We could do a side act, The Everly Brothers Brothers. Ha! I was given this nice old Decca 12 string for parts and after trying to salvage the whole guitar I could not, the neck needed reset and then the heel block was loose, but was able to salvage the really nice neck and tailpiece.
Thank you, Rick! This box has a whopping 5/16 thick top and I was happy it still jangles like a 12 string should.
Thank you, Rope! Very kind of you. I love these types of ballads and the flow of the chord changes. You are right that today's writers are sadly not doing these types of songs.
Thank you, Andries! My mom loved the Everly's (and Elvis) and turned me on to them at a young age. The heel block had been hidden inside the old 12 string for 50 years and it is a nice looking little block of mahogany and I didn't have the heart to stain it, so I just did coats of Tung oil for now though maybe down the road will stain it darker. I can use some harmonies on the track for certain!
Thank you very much, Doug! I have been playing, but not making many videos. Been busy with yard work and a couple builds :)
Thank you, Brian! The neck is really solid and made from one piece from the headstock down to the heel, where they did add a second piece at the heel extension. I was surprised they didn't scarf the neck. The heel block was loose and appeared to have shrunk away from the top and back, and the top and sides of the original guitar had several cracks like someone had it in an attic and dried it out. I was glad to be able to re-use the neck.
Two Everly brother songs in a row on CBN?!? What year is this? Love that 12 string, well done. The Everys made a lot of music right down the road in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Holy cow Derek. I just realized we posted Everly Brothers covers back to back. Too funny. A 12-string box guitar is certainly a rarity. Nicely done... the git and the song.
Great job on the song and the guitar Derek! Rope Walker, Derek writes melodrama and murder ballads as well as anyone. And he does it with a smile. The 12 string is a keeper, excellent sound!
