Hi Uncle. So I started writing Early Winter’s White. I did a verse and turned it over to you for a verse. I couldn’t stop. I just used our words from the comments and made it up. Here ‘tis:

Early Winter’s White

i woke up this morning, ice Fog Greyed the Land.

Under it’s Bleak Frozen Blanket I heard the cry of a man.

outside, I saw Uncle John, his snow shovel in his hand.

scooping out his vehicle, with words not meant for man.

his words were desolate, stark and foreboding

”I’ll never dig this beast from it’s snowy grave

it’s 6 ft. Deep and still coming down”., his toes were numbing and he wore a snowy crown.

Come inside, says I, “ Sitting by the Fire and pickin some sweet warm music is the cure”.

Skip the travel plans and let the beast sleep. Let’s reminisce of Old Times and mild Winters Past,

And let some Soul creep into our Glass.

.... Dave

AGP, our brains are frozen at birth. Permafrost. But it has some advantages. Maybe. It’s easy really. Sit by the fire and pick a tune or two. Eat, nap, go tinker in the shop (briefly), Go have coffee and a roll. Look at the squirrels and watch videos on Nation.

thanks Jim. I use a bit high action on the 12 fret but keep it low by the nut. I finger to the 5th fret an slide up higher. Solves intonation and less clatter. I’m working on a soft touch. I have a nice Gretch Rezo with low action. I want to get to play it.

thanks Buggy. You sure get a lot out of your 1 man band. I love it. Jug band Heaven.

Very Smooth & Relaxing Dave (as always), some lovely pics of the Snow, Lake & Animals etc., but I for one could ever imagine living in such a wintery climate, I prefer heat to cold, But!, that's just me :-D

Nicely played Dave. I thought you did a fine job of minimalizing fret clack. It's always tough for me to get a set up that I can finger notes with ease and still slide without hitting the frets.

A great sounding bit of kit

It was fun to get up to the lake yesterday. The bleak winter’s coat was beautiful. I got my apple trees rewrapped and gathered a spruce bow for our porch in town. It was mild, about freezing. Little wind. To us it doesn’t seem bleak or foreboding at all. Just a nice Minnesota Northland Day. I love your description though Uncle. Expresses a blues lyric. Maybe we can co write a winter’s Song? That would be fun. I suppose it would start “I Woke up this Morning”. Ice Fog grayed the Land in it’s bleak Frozen Blanket. Outside I saw Old Uncle John, Snow shovel in hand.

 Ok, your turn...

It looks desolate, Dave.  Stark and forbidding.  Toe numbing.  The setting by the fire and the sweet warm music is the cure.  Sound like reminiscing of old times.  Very nice.  Dave a little fret clack is soul creeping in.

High winds and rain with a possible change to snow here.  We had travel plans, but now I think we will stay home.  Plenty of things to keep occupied.

Thanks Dennis. I did change to my new Goodwill cloths. We’ll all change “When the Big Correction Comes”.

Get out your Long Johns Danny. I’m sending a White Christmas your way.
