Cover of Copperhead Road by Steve Earle

Steve Earle is one of may favorites and now that I have a mandolin it was obvious I had to use it on this tune of his. Ashton cbg doing double-duty, on the main acoustic rhythm and also the electric parts, plus the mandolin of course.

"Yep", another good one Derek, one can never get enough of Steve Earle :-D

I'm sure you're right Derek. I just haven't seen it. Checked some videos and he  uses lots of different mandos too. Shows what I know. I have seen him three times over the years though, and loved it.

Thanks Andries! I recorded the 4 string plugged into the microcube and the vocal with a snowball mic for the video. Then I input that track into Audacity. Then I multitracked the mando acoustically. Plugged the 4 into my little Fender for a distorted guitar track and a separate sloppy lead.  Then I line up the tracks best I can and add a duplicate track of the original vocal/rhythm track with some reverb added and save all as an mp3 - which is kind of a mix-down I suppose. Thx for the listen and comments my friend!

Milt, it does appear that on at least one of the live videos where he has the full band.

Great Mix Derek ! i hear some Zeppelin in there ! Great tone & Color, what are you using for your recording ? a four track or all tracks seperate and remix later?

Pretty sure the bagpipes are a sample on keyboards. Live shows anyway.

Yup Milt, he can sure work up some great tunes with just a few chords and the mando helps spice them up.

Thank you Jim. Was trying to get more chop from the mando but need to work on the technique a bit more. I tried to get a bagpipe sound with a keyboard and sustain peddle, though I can't play keys just yet. Then tried a couple different harmonicas but the closest I got was the dulcimer but sounded too close to the guitar and gave up...  This is my favorite other tune with bagpipes: https://youtu.be/5fLw9gXDejI
