real fine work Jim, your play and fine voice represents years of practice and sitting around with family/friends ....

Ha! Thanks Will. My wife says I'm my own worst critic and she's right. I always compare a new build to ones I've made before that sounded good and sometimes don't allow that each instrument is gonna have it's own voice. Yeah, 2 finger chords are enough to play anything and then you can add different voicings with more fingers later. When I first started mando it was on a cheap one with poor action and 2 finger chords was all I could manage. That's one reason I love these 4 stringers with nylon strings - they're real easy on the fingers.

Thanks Denny. My Grandma sang opera songs so a lot of these old songs are fairly new to me!

Thanks bug. I do love octave mandos but haven't made one yet. Made a couple of tenor banjos tuned an octave below a mandolin but they don't count since they really sounded banjo-ey!

Stop complaining...it sound great.  You and Uncle john got me going on CBMs.  My dad played a fiddle as a kid and later when there has a mandolin left unplayed, he would pick it up and play...Twin brother & I could get away with anything for the next few days.  I haven't learned to pick yet, but I am getting the 2 finger chords down good enough to play with my uke friends.  Thanks for intro to these things.
