There is definitely a strong link with the "Hillbilly" music and Gaelic due to the large numbers of Scottish / Irish people that settled in the Appalachian region.

Appalachian/mountain music always sounds very Breton/Gaelic to me, there must be a historical connection there...? excellent piece Johnny! (-;
