Great lesson Turtlehead, very well presented and on point.

I would like to encourage you to continue to the next step. But I understand its difficult. Split video with clear shots of what both hands are doing, along with your clear description and instruction style would be awesome!

Thanks Sammy, I missed your comment.  I'd like to do a fretting hand lesson to go along with this one and talk about chords, hammers and pull offs, but I gotta work on it. It's harder for me to describe.

Thanks Turtle.  Had the alt bass going last night.  Will give it a try.

Good deal Unc.  I think this sounds really good for Johnny Cash tunes.  I just ran through Folsom Prison and it sounded good, especially if you get the alternating bass going.

What is my hand doooo-innng?

Getting it Turtle.  At least the Bum Did Dees.    Well keep at it a while and eventually see if I can use it in a song.  Any simple song suggestions for the strum?

Oh my goodness, I'm gonna be giving that technique some practice, thanks so much. Such valuable information for this rookie. Fabulous. So many good folk in this family, cheers Sammy

Pick, that gets my vote too :)  Steve and UJ, it is do-able.  Just takes the dreaded P word.  Practice.  Once you get it, it'll always be there.  Thanks Vinnie, I'm really trying to get the CBG country sound down and I'm glad to share what I know.  When I was teaching myself clawhammer, I read somewhere that the bum ditty belongs to us all, so I'm glad to share and keep the folk tradition moving forward.

Like that sound, like that reso and guitar.   Good lesson.

Man, I could use a new strum.   Probably not the best for my fave blues, but good on a ton of songs.   Thanks Turtle.  I plan to get back here and work on this.   Seems hard but do-able.  Huh.  I do hear the bum-ditty-bum.
