I,m a four string maker....and I prefer the sound they make...good job..your right..nice pick up...u should try d,armands from silvertone 62 jupitor..in fact if you had a three way rotary switch u can have an even warmer and cleaner tone{soul}

  I bet you are right , neanderpaul , "the skinniest four strings"  ( highest pitched four strings) of a standard six string .   That being said you can tune to all open tunings used for a six stringer .  Some ,open chords, will work better than others with just four strings .  Good video !

These strings are pretty light. I'm guessing they are like the bottom four strings, or the skinniest four strings.

So your saying the four largest, or smallest. Was trying to figure it out by looking as you were playing. I know some use the middle four. Heard once, that originally guitars only had four strings. And some wanted more out of them, so they started building five and six stringers. Not sure how true it is though.

Nice vid neaderpaul, you have quite the ear and a good easy going teaching style.

For those asking about the strings, my guess would be that the strings are the first four strings from a standard set - from lowest to highest - D G B E.  Tune the D down to C, keep the G, the B up to C and the E down to Eb.

Think I'll be giving this a try.

I like this tuning for 4 string and I've dine it in Gmin. I mostly play 3 strings but what to do more with 4. I did an origin instrumental and played Amazing Grace in Gmin with a slide. That's a cool take on the gospel classic.
