Couldn't get the damned vid to load on my slow ADSL connection and iPad, so have to wait until I get some free time at work today to look listen. :-) Yeah, G seems kind a tough to crossharp in. Have you tried a C harp? That's what I used on When My Glass Is Empty; I didn't think it would work, but you can bend a few notes, and have about 3-4 notes from the major scale that work OK in G.

Thanks for the lyrics comment on Hawks and Vultures. The music persists in not going where I want it to go, probably because of the B-flat tuning I'm in, which suits my vocal range. But even in Open G it's not writing itself. May have to get out the 6-stringer, play it, then transpose back to 3-stringer.
