Hi Belinda, Firstly it was great to finally meet you and Dave on Saturday and to hear you play live. Great set!!! Thanks to Dave, my first appearance on CBN was solo with a kebab, lol. We promise will be practising later but thanks for crankin' up the pressure! Thanks for the friend request too, I was going to do 'the honours' but we stayed on in Cambridge for a bit of sight seeing, so ya beat me to it. 'Til next time, keep up the good work. B-)

Hello! My name is Kevin M. Kraft, founder of the annual Kansas City Cigar Box Guitar Festival. This year's event will take place on August 26th, and once again I am accepting cigar box guitars and cigar box guitar-related donation, which will be raffled off during the festival, the proceeds to benefit Kansas City's Blues in the Schools program. If you have a guitar, accessory, CD, DVD--anything related to cigar box guitars that you would like to donate, please contact me at the Cigar Box Nation or email me at kevinmkraft@juno.com  to learn where to send it.

Thanks for you time and consideration.

Hi Be,

Thanks a lot. I could probably go back and find the tracks again to re mix it a little, but I did it a few years ago and might take me some time. I was just sitting here listening to your music!Wonderful songs, vocals and playing Be, nice!

Got the CD.  It came really fast.  Thanks to you and your mail room man, Dave.  We put a better photo in the photo section.  Thought you might get a chuckle out of this one when the cam went off before one of us (the slow one) was ready.   :)

Hi Be,

Thanks for the commen. No, there aren't as many women playing, but they just don't know what they are missing. I just love your sound, and am glad that I had the chance to listen to you play.

Thanks, Be! Just tryin' to get the music out, one piece at a time. I gotta revisit Skinny Girl - I think it's about time she did some struttin', too.

Me again,

sussed it... not being sure if it would work or not, I just put some old strings on.

They were obviously dead as a dodo.. new strings..found that zing...woohoo !

I'll do a vid when I can.

Cheers

Gary

Sorry I'm on a roll now :)

I noticed on one of your comments you were after a loop pedal and added the link to ambiloop, which I've downloaded. Haven't tried it yet.

I treated myself to a Boss RC20 Loop station pedal and I have to say..for me, I think it's much better than the akai headrush. My mate has a headrush and I've tried it.

Not wishing to be too forward, but you're welcome any time to pop round and have a go on the Boss pedal. It opens up a whole new playing field, definately one of my better purchases !! Anyway..the offer's there.

Cheers

Gary

Hi again,

The bit on the end is the nob from the pyrex lid :)

At 1:31am on May 20, 2012, GARY KNIGHT said…

Hi again,

I decided against the pyrex lid in the end, as it happened my Dad was throwing out some old pans, so I nabbed them. It hasn't got a terribly reso sound, more like a nice clean acoustic guitar.. sounds nice though !

Any ideas as to how to add some of that tinny zing to the sound?

Cheers

Gary

You're absolutely right B.

If I spent a little less time trying to find obscure blues players on YouTube and a little more practicing a chord or two maybe I'd get even more enjoyment out of my hobby!

Cheers for the encouragement and inspiration.

Really appreciate your kind words, makes all the hard work worth it!

As for playing them........well, that's something I have to leave to those who know what they're doing. But if you can get to Boxstock this year, or the Sweeps Fest in Rochester, Kent, over the bank holiday weekend they'll be on show for you to pick up and play.

Cheers B.  Malc

Thanks for checking out my new vid. It was a song demo originally. Just recording ideas. But I began to add reverb and echoes, blending field recordings. Then I made a vid using some recent photos and videos I took.
