Sorry to hear about the kitty. That's terrible news. I lost my best friend Cole in October of 2018. He was 16. He has a headstone in the backyard where we buried him. I still get sad every time I look at it. You just have to keep in mind that the average lifespan of a stray cat is less than 2 years. Anytime we can give them a fuller & happier life, we've done our duty and become better humans.
