paul on the reso i just built ,the can is lifted off of the back of the box and is setting on 2 dowells that run parallel with the neck thru the body the dowells are 1/4in. in diameter. the dowells are held in place by a block under the neck and a block under the tailpiece at the other end of the box. the can is just floating on the dowells and is held in place only by pressure of the strings. thanks fer the cool comments man.

Hi Paul,

It's a thing called a piglet squid. Saw it about two years ago and kept the photo 'cause it looked mad. When I was looking for something neat I came across it again and just thought yeah...

Paul,
I added the string hold down when I had to much tension on the upper machine heads. My head stock was not angled and the strings were winding high in the machine heads and could not get it in tune. I had the bass strings under it also but snapped a couple. I was running out of strings last night so I tried to lighten up the tension. Since the photos I lowered the nut and all the strings are under the bar and it plays great.

Trial and error and get it until it works.
Thanks for your comments

Thank you Paul for your support. I think you will find the video very useful in understanding how to apply music theory in a very practical way. It will open up the fingerboard for you. Also, remember to feel free to write if you have questions as you work through the lessons. I will be glad to help you learn more and feel more confident about your playing. Enjoy.

Thank you Paul for your comment. Yes, I understand the coordination issue. If you start simply by learning to pick notes out on the first few strings to create a melody line, and then add a bass, it is not that bad. In my instructional videos that I sell, I break it down so it is easy to understand and fun. Challenging, but not too fustrating. lol. Enjoy.

Thanks for the kind words Paul. The box on my build is a La Flor Dominicana cigar box. That giant box only held 10, very expensive cigars. It's my understanding that it's a pretty rare box to come across, but a couple of guys on here do have them.
