I like your company name: "Soggy Bottom Guitars". It's like "The Soggy Bottom Boys" the band in the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou". Loved that movie.

thanks tracy, nice to hear from you, hope you and yours have a great holiday season. thanks again for the wood cone resonator concept.the next level is always there for me to reach out to, thanks to folks like you, and because i have a great imagination on building unusual instruments.

howdy tracy--it was you--you the one--i know it had to be you that was talking with me about using wood for a cone in a resonator build. my memory aint that great since i,m getting older but things like this i seem to remember,so i used an old gourd--split it in half and used that for a cone in a resonator build. i think it has good tone and is way different from a metal cone or can. hope ya get to check out the video cause its all your fault that folks are liking the experiment haaaaaaaaaaa, take care and have a good holiday tracy.talk wit ya more later.

Tracy...you must learn to play. It is vital to your understand of building. Not being a builder myself, I built one CBG with the help of my friend, Bill. I learned a lot. As a player, understand construction of a guitar helps you in the selection of an instrument and understanding how they achieve their dynamic qualities. Besides, learning to play will make your building a hell of a lot more fun too. Enjoy.

hello tracy on those holes i cut with the hole saw bit the paper curls up just a tiny bit and the hole saw bit cuts real clean so for the curls i just use that fine rasp and it takes the curls out real clean like.

hey tracy just stopped by ta answer yer question about how i get the holes cut so smoothly. i have some hole saw bits i use in my battery powered drill. there are 4 different sizes in the set. but for holes larger than 2 in. i cut them with a coping saw then use a fine rasp to smooth out the edges to make the hole look nice and proportioned.

Imitations happen, but it's not hard to keep ahead of the heard if you keep pushing yourself to do more and don't get comfortable.

thank you for your nice comment. i read a sign one day that said: aspire to inspire before you expire, so with theses words i use a talent that i have to be imaginative and express my imagination as much as i can by building things like these great little cigar box guitars. to me its great fun and i build all of them all by hand while sitting in a chair. the only power tool i use is a battery powered drill. i build most of them so that they can be taken apart very easily, but its still great fun to plan and build them all. thanks again.

Tracy, you are very welcome. No, I don't think your builds are garbage. I get excited, and want to finish in a hurry, too. But I step back and think what would happen if I do this or that---so it takes me a while. It would be faster if I was building the same style every time, but I like something different; it is a challenage, and fun. I forget about everything else while I am working on my CBGs.
