Hey, that bamboo slide is good enough that I recommend it if you can come up with one for free. The tone isn't perfect, and it seems to be better on lower strings. It works better than my first attempts at a slide (double shot glass is a noteworthy failure)

Hi I Use and upturned Iphone and Irig record which is free and then shove a video over it. I place it on the music stand upside down, mics facing upwards..

Take your point on positioning I tried everything first... this seems the best to me.
