Howdy Andries. Thanks.for the come bits. The wood in the cello is mostly scrap wood. The top is an old door panel. Thick for a cello, but it has a great mello tone and its strong. Sides are poplar from Menards. 1/4" thick. The back is edging white pine from a timber sawer here in Duluth. My best find is the scrap pile at this yard. Most of my braces, wide boards, exotic wood like mahogany comes from Woodruff Timber. The neck tailpiece and tuners came from China.

I agree on that JR Bonner movie with Steve Mc Queen.  Did you know he used to show up at dirt bike races and enter under phony names like Harvey Wallbanger?

Yeah Andries, that's it. Thanks for the correct spelling. You're only saying that about friends and neighbors because I'm not doing construction right next to your house!

Ahh... the memories. I turned 16 in Amsterdam and weed was legal, I could drink and so I wandered the Red Light area. Staying in Hostels with a group of other Americans. We were riding bicycles in France, England and Nederlands. Man I loved your country on a bike - no hills! But still I rented a little motorbike, is Broomfitsa the right word or even close? Wish I could get back!

Hey Andries, I usually use the cheapest strings I can find but recently been spending more to see if it's worth it. And then Matt B does a vid with weed whacker strings and it sounds great! Happy Easter to you & yours Andries. It's good to have you as a friend. BTW, I had my 16th birthday in Amsterdam a long time ago. Wish I had met you then!

Hey Andries, sorry I didn't answer sooner. I was out playing music with friends for a few days. Very cool double string mouthbow and it sounds great! I'll have to try a chromatic one like in the picture and see what happens. Thanks for doing those!

Hey Andries, that preacher bit comes from one of the verses from the tune. " once I knew a preacher, preached the bible through and through, went down to deep elem now his preaching days is through". I believe there's variations of the verses, depending on who is doing it.

Would you consider emailing me a copy of your 2-string mouth bow sound clip. I'd like to share this with a couple of local friends along with a picture of your build.  larry@lechap.com. Thanks!

Hey Andries, thanks for the kind words. I really like playing uke music, it's a nice diversion from 12 bar music. You can get away with playing some off the wall stuff. There's a lot of stuff out there to explore, CBN offers a lot of inspiration. Thanks.
